Access Statement

Introduction
At GLARAMARA we aim to provide comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation and to cater for all the needs of our guests. We will always do our best to satisfy the expectations of all our visitors.
Please let us know if you have any particular requirements that we can help with.
It should be noted that GLARAMARA was originally a Victorian Town House built on three floors and the building retains many of it’s original features which are not always as found in more modern houses.

The following information is provided to help in deciding if GLARAMARA is suitable for your needs.

Pre-Arrival

  • Keswick’s main Bus Terminus is approx 15 minutes, mostly level walk from GLARAMARA.
  • A Taxi service is available.
  • Penrith is the closest Rail Station, which is approx 18 miles away.
  • Regular Bus services are available.
  • Local Taxi services are available.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • We ask all guests to contact us to advise your anticipated arrival time so that we can be here to greet you.
  • There are no parking restrictions on Acorn Street and other roads around the Guest House but please
    note that during busy periods it may not be possible to park immediately outside the property.
  • We are always happy to assist guests with luggage, if necessary.
  • Keswick Town Centre is approximately a five-minute walk.
    • Mostly level but with a slight gradient.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Our Front door Guest Entrance is on to Acorn Street.
  • One step of approx 150mm to the front porch.
  • The front door is usually locked and 2 doorbells are available.
  • The front door is approx 850mm in width.
  • Our reception area (W1450mm x L3500mm) leads to the main staircase.
  • The dining room is to the left as you enter.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

All our bedrooms are located on the first and second floor

  • All the floor areas on stairs & bedrooms are carpeted.
  • the Hallway and Porch have a laminate floor for ease of cleaning.
  • We do not have a Guest Lounge but all rooms have chairs and colour TV.
  • The dining room is located on the ground floor and accessed from the hallway.

Public Areas - WC

  • All our bedrooms are en-suite with the exception of the single room.
  • One separate WC is located on the first floor.
  • A shower-room with WC & Sink (for use with the single room) is also located on the first floor.

Dining Room
 

  • Breakfast is served in the Dining Room on the ground floor.
  • Furniture is flexible but normally we seat in two’s or four’s 
  • We do our best to cater for all tastes and needs but please let us know if you have any particular requirements.
  • We normally have a TV available for the morning news and weather in the dining room.

Restaurants

We are happy to advise on local restaurants to suit all tastes and requirements.

Laundry

  • We cannot offer laundry facilities but we are happy to help with drying wet clothing and to provide
    an iron if required.
  • there is a Launderette 200yards from the house.
     

Leisure Facilities

  • We do not have our own facilities but we are happy to advise on facilities available in the area.

  • The Owner is a Professionally qualified Riding Instructor B.H.S.I.I. and could be available to teach you on your own horse.

    • Grazing may be available upon request at certain times of year.

  • We do offer Cycling Activities and Cycle Routes inc. Cumbria Way Cycle Route  (72-80 miles)

    • The Route was "created" by my husband, who is also a qualified Mountain Bike Leader

    • We have a website for this Cycling Package  www.cumbriawaycycleroute.co.uk

    • we also sell the C.W.C.R. Directions booklets

      • These are available from ourselves or from Sustrans and Sherpa

Bedrooms

We have a total of four letting bedrooms, one on the first floor and three on the second floor.
  • All rooms have central heating radiators with temperature control.
  • All rooms are carpeted
  • Complimentary Tea/coffee-making facilities are provided.
  • Hairdryers
  • Televisions with remote control is provided.
  • Some T.V's have video-combi facilities.

First Floor Bedroom

There are twelve stairs to a landing with corridor leading to first-floor shower room and separate WC

  • A further five stairs lead to the main landing with access to room One

  • The stairs are 170mm high, 250mm deep and 880mm wide there is a banister to the left hand side.
  • Door widths are 720mm

Room One

  • One double bed
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • Antique wardrobe with drawer in bottom
  • coffee table with fold-down leaves.
  • Bed approximately 800mm in height.
  • One upright chair and one with arms provided.
  • plus 2 wooden chairs with seat pads.
  • En-suite shower cubicle with WC, basin and shaver-point in separate cubicle.
  • Hairdryer

Second Floor Bedrooms

Room Three

  • One double bed.
  • l single pull-out Futon bed which doubles as a settee when not in use.
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • The bed is approximately 600mm in height.
  • One wooden chair with seat-pad is available.
  • Purpose-built wardrobe with cupboard underneath
  • Purpose-built shelved cupboard with surface for tea and coffee-making facilities
  • Sockets with mirror close-by
  • En-suite shower in room.
  • Separate cubicle with WC, basin and shaver-point.
  • Television with remote control
  • Hairdryer

Room Four

  • Two single beds
  • Space under beds for storage of suitcases
  • At least 600mm access between beds and furniture.
  • The beds are approximately 600mm in height.
  • Two wooden chairs with seat-pads are provided.
  • Clothes hanging facilities with shelf above for cases
  • Bedside table with drawers
  • Purpose built-in cupboard with surface and side shelf for tea & coffee-making
  • Separate en-suite cubicle with en-suite shower has WC, wash basin
  • Combi Television/video with remote control
  • Hairdryer
  • The stairs are 170mm high, 250mm deep and 880mm wide there is a banister to the left-hand side.

Room Five (Standard room)

  • One single bed.
  • The bed is approximately 600mm in height.
  • One chair with arms provided.
  • "Tallboy" wardrobe with drawers
  • small shelf with light above bed-head
  • Sink with Hot and cold taps
  • Cupboard with storage and mirrored doors above sink
  • Shavepoint with light above sink
  • The en-suite shower room for use with this room has WC, basin and shower with screen ~ on floor below.

Additional Information

  • Mobile phone service is generally available throughout the house but this does vary by different networks.
  • We operate a no smoking policy throughout all parts of the house.
  • A fire alarm is fitted with call points, smoke and heat detectors.
  • Fire Extinguishers are available on all landings.
  • A high pitch siren sounds if evacuation is needed.
  • All rooms have Emergency instructions on back of Bedroom door.
  • We have a limited amount of space in our main fridge for medications and other special needs on request. (Not available 24 hours)
  • We may be able to offer WIFI connection for your Laptops at certain times of the day.
